Jason and Amber
“Hi, my name is Amber and I live in North Georgia with my husband and 7 year old son. My firefighter husband, Jason, and I were having serious marital problems and an emotional affair even occurred. Jason moved out for a while and we were lost on what to do. Deep down we both knew we still loved each other very much and wanted to work our marriage out but didn't know where to start so we started researching ways to fix our marriage.
At the time, I was on an unpaid medical leave from work so we knew our options were very limited. I started googling options for marriage help for first responders and I came upon The Shelter Foundation. I immediately emailed Gracie, told her our situation, and explained that I was on an unpaid medical leave and we were depending only on Jason’s firefighter income. Gracie got back to me quickly and offered to pay $800 towards a marriage retreat we had chosen. BUT... IT DOESNT END THERE! She went on to pay for TEN counseling sessions for even MORE marriage support/help. We learned SO much at the retreat and are still learning through the counseling sessions.
We actually chose what is called marriage "coaching" instead of "counseling" and the coach had all 5-star reviews. She is wonderful and has helped us tremendously and it's ALL thanks to The Shelter Foundation.
Today, Jason and I are completely in love again (it feels like when we first met again even!) and are living together again and raising our family. The Shelter Foundation also had a hand in getting us into church. With Gracie’s compassion and help and care we just felt she was an angel God sent to us and so we just started going to church. We both got saved. NONE of this would have been possible without the help of The Shelter Foundation and Gracie Miller. Her story also touched our hearts and helped as well to realize we were wasting precious time fighting and away from each other when we should be cherishing the time God has given us to be together. He will, in fact, want us both back some day, one of us sooner than the other I'm sure, and we don't want to be at the others funeral and have regrets about precious time wasted fighting.
Gracie, we cannot thank you enough but I promise when I go back to work and I'm in a better place financially I want to donate to help another hurting family because the work you do, the help you provide, is SO important. The Shelter Foundation ultimately saved our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE AND CHANGING LIVES AND MARRIAGES!
Thank you is not enough but it's all we can say right now.”
